I love Lord of the Rings. It is one of my favorite trilogies. As an incentive for students, we listen to it from time to time. We finished The Hobbit, which everyone loved, so I decided to continue on the J.R.R Tolkien. This audio quality is awful. Some of the voices are unclear, making it difficult to follow along. Other times, it seems that whoever is speaking has put their hand over the microphone, giving it a muffled sound. More than once my kids and I have been lost as to what was happening because even with the volume turned up all of the way, we could not understand the voices. I listen to audio books regularly as I drive a lot. This is one of the worst I have ever heard. I honestly don't mind dramatized books, but this one is just so unclear and sometimes goofy. We have made it through the first CD, but I will be buying another version. I would hate for this to ruin 15 kids love of audio books.
